equine vet nurse….?

what qualifications do i need to become an equine vet nurse, what jobs will they do and also how much do they earn roughly (in the uk). working as a vet/vet nurse is something i have always wanted to do since i was 5 and i’ve always been there when my pets have been to the vets/had vet visits. i have been around horses since i was 8 and have had my own for the past 3 years. i have just finished my gcse’s and will be getting my results in a couple of weeks. in biology i am expecting to get an A/B (i dont think i did too well on the exam because i had a bad cold so not sure) and in chemistry i should be getting an A and in physics i will probably get a B. in maths i am expecting an A/B. i am not so great at english and never have been. i got a C overall in language and should get a C/B in literature. my other subjects arent really related to this career at all but i have definately got at least C’s in all of them and most should be higher.

next year i am doing Biology, Chemistry, Psychology and sociology AS and then probably dropping sociololgy and doing the other 3 A-levels. if i do well in maths this year i might swap that for maths though after i get my results.

what should i do after that. i was thinking of doing this course as part-time or an apprenticeship. http://www.nortcoll.ac.uk/animalcare_PTcourseinfo.aspx?crscode=ACVTND3

what do you think… then after that what course do i need to do to specialise in equine?
fennec fox, i know i cat be an actual vet which is why i am going to be a vet nurse. also i get mainly A’s and B’s if you read correctly with probably two or three C’s.

Can I move to Australia from UK to be a nursery nurse (child care worker) with a level 4 NVQ Apprenticehsip?

I really want to move to Butler in Western Australia, but I am currently training to be a Nursery Assistant (child care worker I believe Australian’s call it) and plan to get an NVQ Qualification level 4 apprenticeship in childrens and young peoples work force to be a nursery manager. People have told me I need degrees and stuff out there, but I’m happy with this career choice but want to live in Australia. Will I be able to with just the above qualification ?
Peace Out x

How does job training work in the US? For phisical jobs like a mechanic, carpenter or Welder?

Ive always noticed in US movies & Tv shows, Americans put ALLOT of emphasis on going to College/University.

Here in Australia, we don’t do that so much. Usually you only go to University if you are training to be a doctor, Nurse, lawyer, Teacher, scientist, ect.

If you don’t want to get a job like that, then you can either work in a dead end job like Mcdonalds or a supermarket. Or you get an Apprenticeship. You can get an apprenticeship in all sorts of jobs like, Mechanic, carpenter, bricklayer, baker, hairdresser, machinist, welder, fitter, painter, panel beater, ect

You can start an apprenticeship when your about 16 or 17 years old or older. So when you leave school, your grade’s don’t really matter that much. Because all that really matter is that you can work hard & are a good learner for your apprenticeship.

Now, in the US do they have apprenticeships? Or do you have to go to College for every sort of job!?

Cause in all american shows Ive seen there is always a huge emphasis on the kid getting good grade’s & going to a good college! But if he does not go to college he will never be able to get a decent job.

Like I said before that is not the case at all here in Australia. Most kids do not go to Uni/College after school. Most try to get an apprenticeship at a Business somewhere.
The Australian government actually encourages kids to get apprenticeships more than go to college……

So how does it work in the US? Or in other countries for that matter! How does it work in the UK too!? Feel free to answer from what ever county your from.

But I’d really like to get a good answer from somone in the US.

Cheers.
I forgot to mention that during the Apprenticeship you have to go to TAFE & do the off the job training. Its a trade school.
You have to go there 4 times a year for about 2 weeks each & get through all the modules.
So with your trade schools, how long do you stay there for? & do you only stay there or do you go off & work at a buisiness? Who are you employed by? Are you paying money to be at that trade school? Or are you being emlpoyed by a buisness & getting paid to be there?

Any veterinary nurses out there? especially in the UK?

What work experience did you do before applying for a trainee vet nursing placement?

My original plan was to do A levels before doing a vet nursing course. But last night a post for a trainee vet nurse came up at the vet I am desperate to do my training at, they are only asking gcse courses – but to be honest I’m not sure how my chances hold up for passing my A level biology, I have just finished As year and have found the course really hard but hopefully have passed, but my hearts really not in college at all, as much as I love the people and the place. My Gcse’s are more than I need – I passed all my sciences with A’s, and have all the other gcses and more than I need to get this apprenticeship.

The one thing I have an issue with. This was a last minute decision to go for this, so I’ve no idea what and how much work experience will be expected/make me stand out to stand a chance of getting a placement.
I work at a riding school, have done a fair bit of lambing in the past but not this year, worked at a poultry market for a while and did work experience for the vet practice I am applying for about a year ago.

Would this be enough work experience for me to stand a fighting chance against others applying to getting the placement?
