who from the UK is sick of….?

These bloody postal strikes. I mean i totally agree they want better conditions etc, but millions of people need their letters, which contain serious thing, driving papers etc, the royal mail only thought of them selfs when they did these 2 48hr strikes. If they hate the job that much noone is making them stay there are they, go get another job, Why dont they think of our boys in iraq and afganistan, and you may say well they choose that career as well but the thing is once u join, after 12 weeks u can’t leave for 3 years, your contract says that and it costs thousands to get out of it. Y dont posties just go find themselves another, Im job hunting at the mo, and i cant get a job because all my response are lost in the flamining post!!!! Royal Mail workers, stop beinf selfish, if you dont like the job, change!! Its not bloody nurses go on strike coz the get awful wages or police stop working because they dont like the working condiditons. Please dont strike on monday as well!!!!!

I have been an RN for 3 years now and have 3 years exp. in labor and delivery hence the wanting to travel. Anyone have any information on UK nursing?

USA – Nursing Degree (RN) Possible Online?

In the UK, to obtain a Nursing Diploma/Degree, you must apply to a University, and the course is then 50% academic (Uni) and 50% experience (Vocational).

They throw you into the deep end as Students, over 3 years, with experience in the work place in Hospitals, Doctors Surgeries, ER, Nursing Homes, Schools, Home Visits, Operating Rooms etc.

I’ve recently learn’t (mabye incorrectly), that in the US, a Nursing qualification to be an RN Nurse – is 100% academic?

If correct, one could obtain the title ‘RN Nurse’ with never setting foot in a Hospital or other associated medical setttings?!!!

Is this true? If so how? I find it incredible a graduate would be allowed to work with patients with zero practical experience before starting work?

Please enlighten me my fellow Americans. I am not having a go at your system, I simply don’t believe than one can be an ‘RN’ nurse by taking an online course – as is advertised by the University of Phoenix, for example.

Many Thanks

No qualifications, very little experience, how to get a job as a teaching assistant/nursery nurse? UK.?

Hi,

My little sister is very down at the moment, she is 21 and has been trying to get a job in childcare for the past 4 years. She does not have qualifications, althought she is currently working towards them. She has very limited experience in the industry and has been doing Admin for a recruitment company for the past 3 years. This is the only job she has had, except for placements at schools through college as a teaching assistant.

I was just looking for some advice or help with this as I don’t know how to help her. She is really bright, and fantastic with children but she just needs someone to give her a chance. Also, she does not want to do full time work for £6000 or whatever, she is currently on around £15,000 and is hoping to get her own place soon and this just wouldn’t work. She realises that she will have to take a pay cut, but almost £10,000 difference is just too much.

She is so unhappy, as she is at her wits end, and in a job that is completely wrong for her, in a real cut throat industry, and it just isn’t right.

She is looking for any of the following; nursery nurse, teaching assistant, child carer etc. or similar.

She lives in Oldham in the North West.

Please can somebody help :o )
