im studying Health and social care A level at the moment ( im in the uk) because it is what i need to take to be able to get into university. i have always wanted to be either a nurse or midwife, but i have always been a quiet girl, im quite shy and find it hard to just strike up a convo with anyone, i now i could be a good nurse because im caring, friendly and have a positive attitude. Im just worried i will fail because i am shy.

The snow is faaaalin’ doooown’…
You will not fail if you have a passion for it. With time, nursing may actually make you a more outgoing person.
why would you let your shyness determine your life??
dont do that!
and no, you wouldnt fail.
but you will fail at life if you let your quietness/shyness determine your life.
get out and make some friends.
I’m shy as well. But i think you should go for it. Once you get in your comfort zone things will open up for you and you will shine. :]
good luck
I am very shy also. I think it is a fine profession for a shy person though. Most of the time when you are shy around other people, it is you not knowing what to say, or having anything you feel the need to say. However, as a nurse you would have a lot to talk to your patients about (they are sick after all), and so it would make small talk and conversations much easier to handle
BTW, I am completing community college prerequisites, and will transfer to a university next fall to complete my BSN.
the thing about nursing is, no matter how shy you are, it will break you out of your shell. if u have a passion for it, i think you should do it. you will love it, and you will be helping people at the same time. good luck
