My spouse is sponsoring me to live in England.I am a graduate of nursing,Filipino,do I need board exam to work?

I didnt pass this last board exam and next exam is on November and Im flying on September and as immigrant,I believe that I have to stay in UK for 3yrs.So I wonder if I can work as nurse in Uk even I’m not a Registered Nurse here in the Philippines

  1. You would have to complete your registration in the Philippines before you would be considered for work in the UK. In addition you have to complete the International English Language Test (IELTS) and then complete the Overseas Nursing Programme before you are able to work in the UK.

    You have to reamin as a resident in the UK for two years after which you can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain. This does not prevent you from leaving the country for short periods of time. You could therefore return to sit your exam in November and would be allowed to reenter the UK on your return.

  2. Hi,

    In addition to the advice given by maggie; you may also have to prove that you have one year working experience as a Nurse as well. I would suggest that you shall contact NMC UK and seek their advice; however you do need to be a registered Nurses in your own country before you can apply as a Nurse in UK.
