I had a horrible year with my company since new people bought us.
They fired the entire team of 6dentists for no reason and I was spared (I am a specialist nurse) because I was in hospital. They withheld my sick pay for two months, my payslips….you name it. Now I am back to find my specialised position taken over by a girl with zero experience.
The manageress (sister of the owner) claims they wanted a fresh person, blah blah. I was demoted to a general nurse.I was employed for three years, never took a day off sick (apart from this year when I broke my hip), never came late to work, always cooperated..
Now they want to get rid of me because I am linked to the old team, know the patients etc.
I am ready to go. I have a better career ahead as a dental hygienist. But there is a catch – I am ready to resign on Monday but the manageress is not coming. She comes as she wishes (how professional). Is a hard copy and an email suitable?
Also – how to make sure they pay me??
I live in the UK.
I have signed a contract with the previous owner. They should have a copy but seems like they don’t as the manageress pushed me to bring my copy for her. I am entitled to 9weeks notice ![]()
I want to negotiate and offer one week only. They basically pushed me so I think they will agree.
The manageress is a lawyer and already warned me that since I was not fired I would not be successful with "constructive dismissal". I don’t have the energy to fight for a job I don’t even want.
I just know they owe money to the dentists who left in January and want to avoid finding myself in the same position.
Can I make them sign some declaration?

You can certainly resign by letter. You should also seek legal advice in regard to "constructive dismissal," which is what happens when they force you to resign by making your working environment unacceptable. This may be the case, but only a lawyer would know.
The lawyer can help with making sure they pay you too. They are of course legally obligated to pay you in a timely fashion.
check their employee’s manual or if you signed a contract, i would check there first. Make a letter of resignation and send a copy to the manager and owner. Make sure you have an ending date.
Write a letter of resignation and put it on his desk or in his company mailbox.
